Paper Love!!!

Being a crafty girl.... there are a few things that can make me into a six year old in a candy shop..... And topping that list is stationary and papers..... !!!!

All forms of color pens, pencils, crayons, paints....... but paper.... ah! paper is a whole other love story.....

In Bandra, on the way to the station is a little paper shop called virat... its part of the ever famous stationary shop (where my mum shopped in her college days and i shopped at in mine!!!). its the best place to get all sorts of handmade paper.... but unfortunately they don't have the printed kind.... the gift wrapping kind.... and those are my favorite!!!

But i'm always on the look out... and I end up buying sheets and sheets and place them under my bed!!!

One strange place to find pretty paper is the stationary shop next to Cheap Jack on hill road, not Something special the other guys....!!

And the other even more random is this school stationary store is jaipur where I found some of the most beautiful printed paper...

So on my pinterest I have a special board called papers! hope you like!!!

What an interesting color scheme don't you think?

This is more up my alley... So gonna try making this!!

Give me a couple of rolls like these and I'm all yours!!!

Bunny!!!

So pretty!!!!

Simple geometric shapes can be so gorgeous....

another bunch of rolls.... who's buying??!!

now these are just mad.... love them both... top and bottom!!!!

But my all time favorite absolute favorite paper is the ruled paper... the lined paper from our school notebooks..... love love love!!!

These are just a few check out my Pinterest page for more fun papers and let me know if you know any great paper shop :)

Finding Some Creativity.... again!!

Chronicles of a stay at home started as a complete DIY and wedding blog.... since then, some three years later, a lot has changed....

I'm still a stay at home... but now I'm a mum and the home has shifted.... cities have changed people in the home have changed, work has changed.... everything has changed.... I have a new blog now all about my little munchkin.... I made a new one because I wanted this part of my life.... the work related the creative one to be separate from my family my baby...

But in the process this poor blog is suffering...:(

I have tried desperatlry since my pregnancy to keep up the diy part of the blog... its been tough... actually going thru the steps of making things documenting the making, editing the images putting it up with the write up..... hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

tough!

but I've realised that thats not all I am about... I'm still an extremely creative person who loves all things DIY who loves all things wedding and parties... and now that my hubby and I are getting back to the world of weddings... its not a bad idea for me to go thru some research time...

So i'm going to use the next few months or maybe just the next few posts to do some fantastic inspiring web surfing!!!!

and i'll make you guys a part of it...

so from weddings to clothes to parties and from homes to vacation spots.... everything to rekindle the designer in me I'm bringing here...

all images from here

but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop my DIY antics... soon soon!!!!

Lust List 003

So recently Aadi and I were gifted the Mac Air.... Oh my freaking God!!!

Its the thinnest sexiest laptop in the world.... If there is one thing the apple guys know is to design....

Their design sense is just way to spectacular....how user friendly it is i'll only know when I use it!! The hubby has taken it back with him and I'll only get to use it in ten days.....

Initially I wasn't too happy with my Mum's mac... everything is just the opposite of  Microsoft right? And since we studied computers we were using the regular microsoft software we are just so used to it.... So the mac was just annoying!!!

But this trip I have used mum's laptop A LOt!! he he... and I've grown to like it... most people had told me that the more you use it the more addicted you get to apple products.... well to them I say... the design is so awesome I'll be addicted to them anyhow!!!

But before I ever got any apple product I was drooling on these that I found on Pinterest.... I don't know how real they are... but they are just products you have to have!!

 aren't they just super awesome!!!

HAppy People - BAby ShoweR TWO!!

Once we were sorted on the décor we arranged for some fun games….

Though this was more of an individual game we still divided the party into people who guessed it was a boy and the people who guessed it was a girl…. Each person was given some colorful clay dough and they had to mould little babies out of them… the cutest one was picked by the mommy to be and was the winner!!

Then we got both mommy and daddy to be involved by making them play this mutli tasking game…

They each had to hold a stuffed toy (like they would a real baby) and talk on the phone and remove the clothes from the clothes line!!! Needless to say mommy won!!!

We also kept a little blackboard for people to put up name suggestions for the new born…

Since they have a 2 year old boy we thought we would do something special for him as well…

We stuffed balloons and gifts into a box which he had to open… the little one was far more excited to see the balloons pop out of the box!!! This is a great diy gift idea for almost any occasion!

This was a really fun party and we enjoyed planning it!!

HAppy People - BAby ShoweR!!

Aditya and I are essentially happy sunshiney people! And we love parties and throwing parties...we love focusing on the small things, styling the little details that  bring everything together and make for an unforgettable memory.... a happy memory... which makes for happy people.... so we decided to get into styling and designing parties and weddings.
We call ourselves  Happy People!!

We customize and hand make most of our decor.. So you can be rest assured that we'll have something new and different every which time....

We can style anything from a small baby shower to a full blown fun wedding... while we love doing something more contemporary and whimsical we also love the good ol' bling weddings....

Here is one of our recent parties a baby shower.....
Now parties are always fun... but getting to do a DIY party... that's just extra fun!!!

Aadi and I got called in by a friend to throw a surprise baby shower for his wife. This was their second little bundle of joy.

The first thing to throwing a great party is to get a great theme in place....

Nothing says BABY like the colors baby pink and baby blue don't you think?

And since they already had one boy we thought it would be fun to have the guests guess if the second one was a baby boy or baby girl!

So we designed and sent out e-invites to the guests letting them in on the theme of the party....

The next and my favorite part of the party was designing and making the decor.....

While everything had to be blue and pink we still wanted to do something more... So we decided to have bows for the boys and flowers for the girls....

We bought some fun blue polka dotted fabric for the bows and some pretty white and pink floral printed fabric for the flowers. They were easy to make... I'll put up a tutorial soon... I made around ten of each.

They were placed in a basket at the entrance and people had to pick one and pin to themselves depending on what their guess was. I have to say I was warned to make more flowers and now I wish I had because we ran out of them pretty fast!!

The next thing on our list was to have a fun photo backdrop. I really enjoyed hand making this backdrop since I was able to fully customize it to our theme. I made some funky paper flowers and bows and added some pretty blue, pink and white ribbons along with the balloons..

Balloons at a baby shower are a must...and while I wanted to add flowers and bows to them as well Aadi thought it would be an overkill...

So we just got simple blue and pink balloons... and filled the room with them...

Fine... He was right!!!

While making the backdrop we thought a pretty banner would really get the whole thing together... So with some blue and pink paper and wool I made a banner which said "Boy or Girl?"

This time I added tiny flowers and bows!!

As part of the table décor we got blue plates and pink napkins…. Blue and pink glasses and spoons… but again… we wanted to do that something extra… so we folded each napkin and tucked a spoon in and tied it together with the polka dotted and flower fabric…. It looked super adorable if I may say so myself!!

A lot of times the most difficult thing to get right in a theme party is the food.... So we decided to keep it simple....

No, we didn't just have nachos!!! We hired a chef who came over and made us some yummy corn cheese balls and nachos to start with. There was a red and a white pasta for the main course along with make-it-yourself pizzas.... yup this really took our DIY party to a whole other level... People just loved mixing up their own pizza toppings!

And to finish that up we not only had delicious sizzling brownies with hot chocolate sauce and ice cream but we also got these adorable custom designed yummy chocolate cupcakes...

Everyone just went crazy over these!! The blue sneakers for boys and pink flower shoes for girls it was just the perfect icing on the.... well Cupcake!!!

ps: we also had some great games at the party and a surprise for the older brother... come check it out in the next post :)
