HAppy People - BAby ShoweR!!

Aditya and I are essentially happy sunshiney people! And we love parties and throwing parties...we love focusing on the small things, styling the little details that  bring everything together and make for an unforgettable memory.... a happy memory... which makes for happy people.... so we decided to get into styling and designing parties and weddings.
We call ourselves  Happy People!!

We customize and hand make most of our decor.. So you can be rest assured that we'll have something new and different every which time....

We can style anything from a small baby shower to a full blown fun wedding... while we love doing something more contemporary and whimsical we also love the good ol' bling weddings....

Here is one of our recent parties a baby shower.....
Now parties are always fun... but getting to do a DIY party... that's just extra fun!!!

Aadi and I got called in by a friend to throw a surprise baby shower for his wife. This was their second little bundle of joy.

The first thing to throwing a great party is to get a great theme in place....

Nothing says BABY like the colors baby pink and baby blue don't you think?

And since they already had one boy we thought it would be fun to have the guests guess if the second one was a baby boy or baby girl!

So we designed and sent out e-invites to the guests letting them in on the theme of the party....

The next and my favorite part of the party was designing and making the decor.....

While everything had to be blue and pink we still wanted to do something more... So we decided to have bows for the boys and flowers for the girls....

We bought some fun blue polka dotted fabric for the bows and some pretty white and pink floral printed fabric for the flowers. They were easy to make... I'll put up a tutorial soon... I made around ten of each.

They were placed in a basket at the entrance and people had to pick one and pin to themselves depending on what their guess was. I have to say I was warned to make more flowers and now I wish I had because we ran out of them pretty fast!!

The next thing on our list was to have a fun photo backdrop. I really enjoyed hand making this backdrop since I was able to fully customize it to our theme. I made some funky paper flowers and bows and added some pretty blue, pink and white ribbons along with the balloons..

Balloons at a baby shower are a must...and while I wanted to add flowers and bows to them as well Aadi thought it would be an overkill...

So we just got simple blue and pink balloons... and filled the room with them...

Fine... He was right!!!

While making the backdrop we thought a pretty banner would really get the whole thing together... So with some blue and pink paper and wool I made a banner which said "Boy or Girl?"

This time I added tiny flowers and bows!!

As part of the table décor we got blue plates and pink napkins…. Blue and pink glasses and spoons… but again… we wanted to do that something extra… so we folded each napkin and tucked a spoon in and tied it together with the polka dotted and flower fabric…. It looked super adorable if I may say so myself!!

A lot of times the most difficult thing to get right in a theme party is the food.... So we decided to keep it simple....

No, we didn't just have nachos!!! We hired a chef who came over and made us some yummy corn cheese balls and nachos to start with. There was a red and a white pasta for the main course along with make-it-yourself pizzas.... yup this really took our DIY party to a whole other level... People just loved mixing up their own pizza toppings!

And to finish that up we not only had delicious sizzling brownies with hot chocolate sauce and ice cream but we also got these adorable custom designed yummy chocolate cupcakes...

Everyone just went crazy over these!! The blue sneakers for boys and pink flower shoes for girls it was just the perfect icing on the.... well Cupcake!!!

ps: we also had some great games at the party and a surprise for the older brother... come check it out in the next post :)
