A for Alishka!!!

I have always been in love with my name!

alishka...!!

it means "more brilliant than jewellery" 

Now how pretty is that?!! It's a Sanskrit name, my dad put two words together and came up with it...

I was always so proud of the fact that my name was so unique.... no one had it.... except my dad's friends daughter.... He loved my name and me.... so when he had a little girl he told my dad he would be using my name!!!

Then there was this uncle in my family from the other side... who also named another niece of his alishka, but unfortunately told her family that the name meant a bee!!! poor thing.... she has such a pretty name and she says "it means a bee!!"

Recently a friend asked me if she could name her baby, if it was a girl, alishka and I very gladly said yes!! She sent me a picture of her baby girl who is just adorable!!!

So personally i know three alishkas which isn't so bad until i decided to google and search for alishka on facebook...... DISASTER!!!

The number of alishka's that exist is crazy!! There are russian alishkas, middle eastern alishkas, african alishkas, north european alishkas..... but the maddest is when the search results came up boys called alishka!!!

That was just way too heartbreaking!!!

A few days ago a friend of mine liked this page "The Happy Page" (yes lots like my own page: Happy People.... bet they cursed us for taking the name!!) speaking of which they sketch these amazing "happiness is......" sketches for people.... and this friend of mine who also has a lovely unique name put this up:

well narcissistic as i am... on Pinterest I have this entire board dedicated to... no not me... but in a way to me... to beautifully illustrated "A"s 

Ha ha ha!!! wasn't that fun?!!!!!

I guess as many alishkas there are in the world those many fonts are available too!!!

Finding Some Creativity.... again!!

Chronicles of a stay at home started as a complete DIY and wedding blog.... since then, some three years later, a lot has changed....

I'm still a stay at home... but now I'm a mum and the home has shifted.... cities have changed people in the home have changed, work has changed.... everything has changed.... I have a new blog now all about my little munchkin.... I made a new one because I wanted this part of my life.... the work related the creative one to be separate from my family my baby...

But in the process this poor blog is suffering...:(

I have tried desperatlry since my pregnancy to keep up the diy part of the blog... its been tough... actually going thru the steps of making things documenting the making, editing the images putting it up with the write up..... hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

but I've realised that thats not all I am about... I'm still an extremely creative person who loves all things DIY who loves all things wedding and parties... and now that my hubby and I are getting back to the world of weddings... its not a bad idea for me to go thru some research time...

So i'm going to use the next few months or maybe just the next few posts to do some fantastic inspiring web surfing!!!!

and i'll make you guys a part of it...

so from weddings to clothes to parties and from homes to vacation spots.... everything to rekindle the designer in me I'm bringing here...

Doggie Love!!!

When I'm really really low.... and no amount of TV and conversations or anything can lift me up.... (and If i'm no where near my little Mylo) I have  two special Pinterest pages.... "Can I take this one home" and "Makes me smile"

While you may see some really sexy guys on the can i take this one home page.... that's not what I'm referring to in this post!!!!Though if I have to be honest they don't hurt either!!!!! there are also little cute babies and kittens.... but lets just focus on the crazy dogs here!!!!

But no seriously even five minutes of going thru these adorable doggies can totally make my day full of sunshine!!!

What Can Make Me Cook!!!!

Im not the best cook... in fact I'm only sort of fond of cooking...its more a - if I have to I will kind of a thing with me....or if I'm just in the mood to have something special!

But there are two thing that make me want to cook- a great kitchen and the hosting a party bit!!!!

I love a fully furnished quirky kitchen as much as i love styling a dinner party.

So here is a  little round up on kitchens and table settings that made me want to cook :)

love love love the colors and prints... a fantastic mix of it all.

The first time my mum suggested painting her fridge I thought she had lost it.... but today I eat my words!!! 

yes she did paint her fridge a shiny bronze!!!!!

How convenient is this? Cook on one side... eat on the other!!! and the best part is its not just some small coffee table seating its a proper cozy dining table :)

Love anything vintage.... the utensils remind me of how it would have been in my grandmothers' kitchens!!

Terrace parties are the best, don't you think?!

color color again!!! and that wallpaper!!! I want this kitchen!!!

Now for some lovely table settings.... I so want to throw a party and set them up like these!!!

Burlap is one of my favorite materials... so raw but still beautiful.....

I know its in the garden.... but that's what makes it even prettier don't you think?

You can't go wrong with balloons....!

Now this is more my scene.... paper flowers.... bring it on!!!

This is so easy.... just lay your ribbons on the table.... I actually used this for my wedding... but i stitched them together so that they didn't move around too much.

So there you go.... a colorful kitchen some old fashioned utensils and a great table setting.... and you've got me cooking!!!!
