TaBle LinEn!

Table linen is my favourite at weddings.... and, well, you all know my undying love for all things shimmery and glittery!! So put the two together and I'm in heaven!!

I mean seriously look at these table cloths and tell me that you don't want them at your wedding. Instant lift me ups are what they are.... Simple and effective.... two things I always appreciate!

FirE WorKS!

While I love love love sunshiney pictures like this one:

1

Sometimes the light is just not on your side.... However these super smart photographers have come up with their own lighting involving fireworks....

2

Its really magical!

3

how pretty is this?

4

A great way to end the wedding!

I have been following this fantastic photographer called The Wedding Filmer for a while now. The brainchild of ad-filmmaker and producer Vishal Punjabi, the idea was born when he and few photographer friends shot candid footage at his own beautiful garden wedding last summer. As he edited the priceless, raw emotions they had so tastefully captured and converted it into a 2 part short film with a trailer thrown in, he was flooded with requests from friends and cousins to recreate the same magic for their weddings.

This is an image from his wedding... love what he has done with the fireworks....!!!

You can follow him on Facebook or Pinterest.

BAck DroPs!!

One of the most important parts of a wedding is the Photographs!

And for great photographs you need a great backdrop... hence the backdrop design is something that becomes a priority for every wedding stylist. Sometimes an entire wedding decor can even revolve around the backdrop.

If you are using a natural backdrop or making one yourself, you'll need some ideas ... so here are some great inspirations!

1

This one is almost natural...The few bunches of flowers that have been added to the trees, really stand out and make for a pretty picture.

2

A great DIY backdrop....

3

Lights really do make for a rather dramatic backdrop!

4

Vey hip and cool....

All are really easy to do.... but what I love most it that even though each one is very different from the other , they are all so dramatic and eye catching.... real conversation starters....!!

Friday Weddings: Svyatoslav and Alice!

One of my biggest ruses with Indian weddings is that they are too stuffy and formal.

I know in our own way we have fun and let loose, nowadays even more so, but somehow the whole ceremony and the ten functions we have are exhausting...especially for the bride and groom...

I wish we could have a more relaxed approach to such a great day... I mean after all its really a day to celebrate the couple... not harrow them!!!

Have a look at this amazing wedding I saw recently on one of my favorite websites : Style Me Pretty... they showcase some of the most fun bohemian weddings I have ever seen!!

This one took place in Moscow, Russia. My best friend stays in Russia, I still haven't had a chance to visit... but if it's this pretty... I'm definitely going next summer!!!

The couple, Svyatoslav and his pretty bride Alice, really look like they had a blast on their special day!!

And the photographer Max Koliberdin, oh my god.... he has captured everything so beautifully.... the relaxed state of mind, the sunshine, the space.... he just made it look like an even more magical day than it already was!!

The color scheme for the day was Blue Orange and Rose..... a great combination for a day wedding.... what I absolutely loved (well one of the million things!!!) was the banner design they used on almost everything.

I am a super fan of DIY things as you know... so these adorable banners just made my day!

Tell me you don't just love love love the seating?!!!

Details are what really make for a great overall decor.....

imagine it.... chilling on the grass, a friend playing his guitar, someone singing, wine flowing, beautiful sunshine streaming through trees..... ahhhhh!!! perfect!

the trees, the flowers, his flower pin and the wreath on her hair, love how everything is complimenting each other in these pictures..... and the colours.... so pretty!!

Having fun at your wedding is something I can't stop stressing on.... its very very important to look back on your day and not only remember how tired you were, how your feet ached, how you had to smile at random guests, remember the smile on your husband's face when he saw you, or the private joke you'll cracked on your friends ... remember the fun!!

On that note.... if you think this is the kind of personal romantic bohemian wedding you would like to have let me know :)

Tuesday Wedding Tips- Bridezella

Be a blushing beautiful happy shining bride, who enters her wedding smiling..... don't even by mistake take on sooooo many roles before the wedding that by the time you are entering the venues you have already spotted ten mistakes in the decor or the guest seating and are frowning all the way to your poor husband to be!!!

I've met a few Bridezellas and have seen so many similar patterns. So i'm going to try and work thru these situations that crop up that make every bride reach that point where she can cross over to crazy bride and instead help her stop there!!!

1. Fixing the date!

First of all decide a wedding date a minimum of ten months away. You will need that much time to get organized. Actually make that a year! Now understand that you have enough time to work out every important thing you will need for you wedding.

2. Break up the wedding into core parts-

   a. Venues and catering and Decor.
   b. Clothes - jewelry and  make up
   c. Guest lists and accommodation.

Now divide these major parts among your family and friends. Like let your parents decide the guest list and accommodation. Let a close friend help you with you clothes and make up. You decide the venue but let your family decide the menu. Give an over all look and feel that you want for the decor and leave it to the decorator after going through samples.Don't fuss!

Smaller categories like photographers and DJs pick people who are good and reliable but again don't expect them to give you an entire list of songs from beginning to end.

The more leeway you give some one who you are hiring for their specific talent the better they will perform. the more you go into telling them how to do their job the more the will back off.

3. Simplify the planning further.

Find venues that are closer to home so as to make sure you reach on time. For the same reason make sure your salon is close to home, or better still work with someone who will come home and get you ready. Remember in those last few days being at home will make you most comfortable...No five star hotel room will give you the warmth and love as your own home.

Do make up and hair tests in advance. DO not try to use a make up artist for the first time, or get the test done by the senior and have the junior come on D day. That's a sure fire way of loosing your mind! Do not stress out your make up artist by being madly particular about the shade of lip gloss you want, again remember giving some leeway. Show her images of the make up you like and ask her to stick to it.

Also one of the things that can really take the pressure off is having lesser guests... i know in most Indian weddings that is almost impossible.... but try to convince your parents that maybe other than the reception you could have all small functions.

Wear your wedding shoes for two three day before get used to them ( this point i'm just throwing in because I've seen most girls being super irritable because their feet hurt in their new shoes!!!!)

4. Be organized.

Get a big book and divide it into all the major categories and add the most important one: budget! Categorically go through each and every one and make notes. Have a daily To Do list and make one for any family member or friend you think need one. Don't breathe down their necks but occasionally ask them if they have managed to tick off all the items.

5. Meditate.

Or run or go to the gym or swim... anything really to get your mind off the wedding. Don't let the wedding and all its little details take over your life. Its an important day but its not the end all of life.

6. Take fun breaks from the wedding.

Party with your friends go for lunches and dinner and long coffee sessions.... have sleep overs.... anything to de-stress.And keep this going till the very last day... you'll come out glowing!!!

7. Be perfect but don't be a "Perfectionist"!!!!

After all these very general points lets come to the one the only which really divides the happy brides and the crazy ones. Deciding what your mehendi design is exactly from finger tips to ankles, picking the threads for your outfits embroidery to matching the shade of your flowers to table fabric to your own outfit these are the dividing factors.

Who really cares if you have  criss cross lines on your palm or if your "dulhan" is facing the wrong side; Who really cares and notices that your embroidery thread is not exactly going with your nail polish. Don't laugh I know people like this.

You know the only thing that matters is when you husband to be sees you walk toward him, and the smile in his eyes..

When i got married I had planned everything down to even making some of the decor myself (with mommy dearest) and I was going mad... even border lining on crazy when a friend.... well at that time my cousins friend sent me this mail:

Don't worry 'bout nething, dont' stress 'bout nethign, everything that's to happen will happen properly nd everythign will fall into place as the day(s) zap by. Just breathe!!!  , and yes when u're all tayyar-vayyar wearing u're beautiful weddin outfit and u go around asking everyone if you look ok? Trust me you'll look beautiful no matter what ur wearing! I don't know what this weddin day does to you girls, but in my experience there is this blissful radiance that just makes u all look even prettier than ever!  so again... Alishka.... just breathe...  lol

And it literally changed everything for me. I especially loved the part that everything that has to happen will happen properly... and about how brides look beautiful no matter what.... heck I'm still smiling!!!!

So come on all brides to be.... sit back and enjoy the process and that will just make you love the day of your wedding to that absolutely special guy!

Wedding Outfits!

This was my only so called "Designer" outfit!!!! Its a Ritu Kumar and holds a very special place in my heart....

All thru my wedding shopping i felt like i needed to have at least one designer outfit namely a Sabyasachi!!! but of course because of my budgeting that was way out of my league!! Lots of friends spoke of Ritu Kumar as being the ideal bridal designer but I hadn't paid much attention.... till that one fateful day in a delhi mall (forget which one... one the outskirts of the city.... its super huge.... damn!!!)

I was completing my western outfit part of my trousseau when i saw this Ritu Kumar store on sale!!! SALE!!! now i just had to go in there.....

almost immediately i saw this piece.... and fell in love!!! and then the price tag and i was more in love!!!! my cousin who i was with convinced me that to get a Ritu Kumar (its funny how i have to type her whole name each time!!!) at that price was a steal but still i had to ask my mum..... but she didn't answer right then.... so we had to leave the mall....

I was leaving for Jaipur the next morning and i just couldn't leave without that outfit.... So when i finally got thru to my mum and got permission.... i rushed my cousin and hubby to be all the way back to the god forsaken mall almost an hour and a half away.... we got there like half hour before closing time and luckily it was right there waiting for me!!!

A few alterations and they couriered it to Bombay for me.... ahhhhh sooooo pretty!!!

Frankly i looked my prettiest that day and not just the outfit but the make up.... one of my most magical friends did it for me and she just made me glow!!! yeah i think the happiness of marrying that guy also had something to do with it!!!!

So here's the dress and me at my emotional- est!!!

Something about finally getting married can make you super emotional......

I loved every minute of it....!!

All the Punjabi details and the jewellery just brought out the best in the outfit!

Everything about it is so bridal don't you think?

The embroidery and intricate details looked stunning....

Every lace every piece of brocade and gold thread work.... the colors.... i love!!

I especially loved the way the dupatta fell... so soft and gentle and lovely!!!

hmmmmmmm I could get married all over again just to get back into that outfit!!!

Wedding Outfits!

So one of my most favorite persons is getting married in two months.... and i'm soooooo excited!!! buying new clothes, dance practice for the sangeet, the wedding decor the invites..... all of it so fun!!!!

Of course nothing like the shopping!!!! (though yes decor is more me... but new clothes.... c'mon....!!!!!!)

I've been on the net for days trying to find the current colors and styles.... now to go out into the market and see it for real.... i have so many options..... really want to check out a masaba for the cocktail and aishwarya for a beautiful saree for the baraat....

The wedding is in delhi and i'm sure even all the delhi-iets will agree that you really gotta dress it up there! The last wedding i attended there i was looked up and down by every girl!!! I'm sure they knew exactly what shoes i had on and whether my jewelry really matched my outfit!!!!

So while I'm on my search.... here's a little reminiscing on my wedding clothes!!!

Lets start with my absolutely favorite outfit.... the cocktail lehenga....!!!!

yes I'm a full on nautunki!!!!!

this was my ek do teen dance!!!!! someday one day i may put up the video!!!!!

so that's the choli.....

this is my favorite part of the outfit.... see the image on the left without the heavy dupatta can also be worn with a simpler dupatta to make it less dressy.....and with the heavy dupatta... well that's just pure drama!!!!!

see what i mean.... every layer is stunning!!!!

this was really my most favorite outfit!!!!

don't you just love the details!!!!!

The next outfit in the next post!!!!!!!
